My wife purchased your 50mm lens from you.
We enjoy getting inspiration from your photographs, they are amazing! Did you use any amount of fill light in these photos? I've tried taking pictures into the sunlight (w/o extra lighting) but I end up with only silhouettes of the person posing.
I love her messy curls- she is pure little girl.

Thanks so much Enrique! I hope you're enjoying the 50! I actually never use flash (well, except at weddings when I have no choice).
I love backlighting, sometimes you sacrifice sharpness but the hazey, dreamy feel is what I like best so it works for me. I shoot manual 100% of the time so I expose for the subject instead of the whole frame. This can lead to blown highlights in the background but that's not something that bothers me, or my clients for that matter.
Thank you for the tip! After looking at your pictures a little closer, that makes total sense. I actually tried some pictures using this technique last night, but haven't had a chance to look at them yet. I hope the come out well!
