Boooo

Photobucket Image Hosting

This hurricane business is really cramping my style! We had a fun trip to the Woodlands planned with our friends Ryan and Marissa tomorrow, I had a new client photo session in Houston on Saturday night, and now it looks like we might be hunkered down here with no power. (being from Texas I like to throw in phrases like "hunker down" every once in a while!)

I say two thumbs down, Hurricane Ike. Hopefully it will fall apart well before it gets to us, we were lucky enough to dodge Fay when we were in Florida so maybe we'll be so lucky again. We'll see how it goes! Regardless I'm sure we'll have all the weathermen from the networks decked out in their rain gear, looking for damage to broadcast in front of. Don't those guys crack you up!?

New designs

I've been working on some new stationery designs lately and I think these two are my favorite:

Modern Fleur

Dainty-Calling-Card

The folded and flat cards to match should be done soon. Fun stuff!

Obsession - Eyeliner

Let me preface this post by saying that I am not, by any means, even slightly skilled at the art of putting on eyemakeup. Not even a teensy bit. I usually only wear eyeliner and only on the weekends, maybe for a date night with Jared or something. This is because every time I attempt to do some kind of eyemakeup it always looks hideous about an hour later, I think my eyes are shaped so that my eyeliner always rubs off on my eyelids and just looks like a mess. Always! No matter what kind I try!

But I have finally found it - eyeliner that really does stay put, for real. It's Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner, and when the lady at Ulta told me that it takes "serious makeup remover to get this stuff off" I was sold! It goes on nicely and you can smudge it a little bit but once it's dry (10 seconds later) it's not going anywhere. I don't think I'll use any other kind as long as I live.

They also have these fun colors but I'm afraid if I try them I might look like a street walker...

Playing catch up...

I am WAY behind on pretty much everything right now! Laundry, chores, errands, blogging! I'm just now going through pictures from Florida that we got back from a couple weeks ago, not to mention all of the fun road trip pictures.

We have been going to Destin every summer since I can remember and it has gotten more fun each year. This time we got a house on the beach for a week and my aunt, uncle, and their cute kids came too! We had such a blast.

A respectable post on this will follow but here are a few pictures from the week for the meantime:

12 states - 3,004 miles

map copy

That is how much Jared and I have driven in the past two weeks, and boy am I glad to have a break from road trips for a good long while. It started when I flew to Chicago to see his presentation and from there we drove to Destin, FL to meet my family for a week on the beach. (pictures will be up soon I promise!) It was about a 15 hour drive but it was GORGEOUS! I have never driven through that part of the country and we were both shocked at how beautiful Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee are. Alabama not so much.

Then we drove back home and started school the very next day! Jared is taking 19 hours this semester (whoa), and this fall is packed with speakers, conferences and meetings at my office so we have both jumped in with both feet and been super busy starting the first day back.

My sister, Melissa, is moving back to Texas so we offered to drive her moving truck from Utah to Dallas that next weekend. So we knocked out the first week of school, flew to Utah and started the trek back. The first part of the drive from Utah to Colorado was really pretty, but from there on it was pretty bleak.

So posting has pretty scarce, driving through 12 states in two weeks isn't very blog friendly. But once I get a few hours of much needed sleep, catch up on phone messages and email, and my eyes get used to staring at a computer screen again all will be back to normal!

Little Baby Sophie

Sofie

Isn't she the cutest thing you've ever seen!!!! I was so lonely this summer while Jared was gone so I decided to get Chauncey a little sister!

Actually, about a month ago my mom and I were shopping at my favorite antique store when I saw this pile of sleeping kittens. I love kittens. So they were all asleep and cute and I instantly knew I had to have one. Little Soph-ster was at the bottom of the pile and the smallest of the group. I picked her up and carried her around with me while I shopped to see if she was snuggly, sort of a pet interview you could say, and boy was she! She loves to be held and cuddled - everything I wanted Chauncey to be that he's not. (I still love you Chauncey, you stinker)

When we were done I asked the lady how much they were and she said "FREE!", what a glorious day! I then realized that there wasn't anyone there that could tell me I couldn't have her, and surely Jared would fall in love with her after seeing the cuteness. A few hours later I called and broke the news and, surprisingly, he wasn't angry that I had just doubled the cat population in our house and the number of pets he's had in his entire life!

When he met her for the first time on Sunday it was love at first sight, I knew it would be. She really is so stinkin' cute. Chauncey, however, is not so sold. He's really warmed up since the beginning when he growled at her if she was even in his peripheral vision. I actually caught them cuddling the other night so I think he's coming around. Now Jared has his wild crazy cat-dog and I have my little princess Sophie! (do we need kids or what!? haha)

All is right with the world!!!

Picture 041b

Jared's home!!! He's home, he's home, he's home! After 2 and a half long months I finally have my husband back. He's been in Chicago doing an internship with OfficeMax Corporate all summer and he presented his project a little over a week ago.

Picture 044b

I got to fly up and see him and all of the other interns present to the CEO and 150 other senior executives and associates, it was really exciting. Exciting for him, but NERVE WRACKING for me! I guess it should have been the other way around but Jared is completely at home speaking in front of people, I think it's because he's amazingly good at it which makes me jealous.

Jared and his friend Sebastian from Peru. We miss you Seabass!

He had one of the best presentations of the group (not just in my opinion either!) and did an amazing job on his project. We were in Chicago for four days and had a blast. I got to go up to see where his office was and meet his co-workers, everyone was so nice. It was really incredible to be in a corporate environment that was so comfortable and new and NICE! We absolutely love the company and are really grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the program.

All of the Aggies giving a Whoop!

They announced at the presentations that over 2,000 people applied for the 28 intern positions so these interns were really the best of the best, how crazy is that! I couldn't get over it. After we packed up his apartment we headed south to meet my family in Destin for a much anticipated week on the beach (hence the lack of blogging). It was a 15 hour drive but we split it into two days so it really wasn't that bad.

On the way down we talked a lot about how much has happened during the past two years being married. We both feel so overwhelmingly grateful and humbled by the blessings and opportunities that we have seen in our lives and continue to see.

Personally I don't know what I ever did to deserve a husband like Jared. He is the hardest worker I've ever known and never lets anything knock him down, he is absolutely hilarious, he's honest and always generous and sincere - he is everything I could have ever wanted in a husband and then some. I just love him like crazy. My sister Melissa told me last week that I am more myself around Jared than I have ever been, and I think that says it pretty well. When you are with someone that helps you become the truest version of yourself without even realizing it, that is how you know. I am the happiest girl in the world, and I'm so glad he's home.

(for anyone who is gagging from me going on and on - sorry, but I bet you would do the same if you're husband was gone for two and a half months! =) so I don't feel bad)

You know how it goes....

you get busy with life and you forget to blog about it! It's been a long week, sorry for the slacking and lack of posts. There's been so much going on - getting ready for students to come back at work, proofing two sessions from the weekend, trying to get everything together for when Jared gets home next week - yay! (I guess I need to start shaving my legs again), got a new kitten on Saturday (her name is Sophie, she'll have her own post later), and trying to address my paleness before our beach vacation in a week. Yikes!

Anyways, here's a couple of shots from the Robinson's family session. They were awesome, so laid back and fun... and ridiculously good looking, which makes my job easy.

Beautiful girls

IMG_4549

My friend, Megan, told me how magical pictures right at sunset look so I decided to try it on Saturday during my session with Alyssa and Lenea. Now I'm hooked! I love the warm glowiness (actual word?) and the vintage feel. It doesn't hurt that these girls are BEAUTIFUL, don't they look like future Anthropologie models!?
